Here is our 20 year old Simplex kettle. The poor old thing is on it’s last coil! It is being retired to the kitchen over-flow closet. I can’t bear to cast it out into the cruel world after it has served us 
so faithfully.
Here is the new KitchenAid. Ah, it’s a pretty kettle. Well, we’ll see how it does. I can offer this preliminary judgement: it has quite a loud voice.
